Independent AI Tool Security Assessments

Selected AI tools on AI Educator Tools carry an independent security assessment provided by 9ine. These assessments give teachers, school leaders, and IT directors independent assurance about the AI tools they are considering, so they can adopt AI with confidence.

What is assessed

Each tool is independently assessed across the four areas schools most often need to evidence before adopting an AI tool:

  • Privacy and data protection. How the tool collects, stores, and handles personal data, and whether it meets the standards schools must evidence.
  • AI risk, ethics and bias. The risks specific to AI, including fairness, transparency, and the potential for bias in outputs.
  • Security. The technical and organisational measures in place to keep the tool and its data secure.
  • Child protection. Safeguarding considerations for use with children and young people in an educational setting.

How to spot an assessed tool

All AI tools that have been independently assessed display a green shield icon, shown on the tool page next to the Security Assessment label and in the bottom right of the tool logo. Browse AI tools to find them.
